BASKERVILLE HALL - HAY ON WYE Round 3 DH & XC Down Hill Saturday 18th August Cross Country Sunday 19th August Race Report : Well it rained, every one got very wet and muddy ! Thank you to every one who came out the rain to race and take part what was a great weekend. Race Reports & Results for both Down hill and Cross country soon, please check back Series Points will be available after the weekend. Baskerville Hall hotel is situated in with in owns grounds and with a forest to the rear of the hotel used for all sorts of sporting events. On Saturday night there will also be a disco in the hotel for any one wishing to party the night away. RACE FORMAT Saturday's racing will start with the Down Hill at 11 o'clock with the Juvenile class (12-14 year olds) being first to come down the hill followed by the Youth,Juniors,Vets, Grand Vets,Masters,Seniors and finally the Pro-Elites. Sundays racing will Start at 10 o'clock with Juniors,Youth,Juvenile and the FUN races starting at 5 minute intervals. Any one new to the sport or would just like to take part the FUN race is the ideal opportunity to start racing or just to have a ride round the Cross Country course used in the past for National Championship races. The next group of racing starts at 11.30am where you will see the start of the Master,Veteran,Grand Veteran, and Ladies races. At 1.30pm is the time for the kids races with the Sprogs and Peewits racing round a specially designed short course. ( with help from their parents normally pushing them around! ) The top riders in the country will start racing at 2 o'clock with the Pro-Elite, Expert and Sport riders fighting it out over this fantastic course. London THE COURSES: Downhill The course is based around Dragon Down hill used earlier this year. It will include a revised start section, and will include subtle changes elsewhere before dropping into the finish in the hotel gardens. Cross-country The course encompasses a number of gradual climbs, and some fantastic descents with lots of single track with a loop through the hotel gardens before heading back up the mountain. GETTING THERE: Directions / Map to Baskerville Hall ACCOMMODATION: For Hotel rooms( £25 per person per night), bunk rooms (£15 per person per night) both with breakfast or camping (£5 per person for the weekend) information please mention the Specialized Mountain Bike event when you telephone. At registration you will be given your race number, ties and any final instructions necessary. Registration for the downhill race will close at 10.30am. Registration for the cross-country race will officially close ½ hour before each race start time. SITE FACILITIES: Use of the Hotels facilities are provided. For full use of the swimming pool etc you will need to have booked a room in the hotel. Hot & cold food will be available from the hotel in the evening and by Dennis Dan on Saturday & Sunday during the day. Trade stands will be located on site. RACE NUMBERS: Your allocated race numbers will be given to you when you sign on. Please note: A £2.00 deposit is required for the SSS number boards. This will be refunded at the end of the race on the return of an undamaged board. These race numbers support the entire Series, so PLEASE remember to hand them back after the event. DOWNHILL PRACTICE TIMES: Prior to the event: None Available. Saturday 18th August: 08.30 am to 10.30 am. ( Subject to the approval of the BCF Commissaries. ) NOTE** DOWNHILL EVENT: Helmets and Bike Bar End Plugs are compulsory. Also In line with BCF guidelines, it is strongly recommended that competitors should wear Full Face Helmets, Full Body Armour, and have their own Personal Accident Insurance. The BCF Sliver and Gold Membership options cover this, and is a relatively cheap way to purchase it. DOWNHILL EVENTS - PROPOSED FORMAT: The downhill will consist of a practice session of approximately 2 hours. The course will then be closed for one half hour. Racing will start at 11.00 am, with riders being dispatched at 30 second intervals. There will be two timed runs, with the best recorded time to count. There will be an half hour break, before racing recommences. (NOTE* Race format and all times are subject to alteration at the Organizers / Commissariess discretion.) CROSS COUNTRY COURSE PRACTICE TIMES: The course will be fully marked on Saturday for inspection. Practice on Sunday will be from 08.30am to 10.00am.
