UCI World Cup Cross Country race format for 2003

hot news from the front is that the UCI had a meeting with all managers to say they are going to change the format of the World Cups to have point to point, stage races, short courses, enduro and standard cross country.

This could lead to changes to midlands races?

Hopton News
Down Hill Course - work has been done putting stone into the what were slow muddy bits, the track was dry and getting really fast, a new line and burm has been added just before the second fire road crossing and new way into the G - out, lower down the course a new track has been cut thorough to join up with with national course and down into the field to finish. Nice.

Cross Country Course- This is one proper XC course a couple of good climbs, technical descents some fast open down hill all go to make this a really satisfying course to ride.
Laps are around 5 miles long.
From the Start in the field its short flat section and a long climb up on to the fire road
this continues up to the top of the forest road, then a nice flat fireroad burst, turn right up a short climb towards the down hill start and a quick right and down into a nice technical decent thorough the trees to drop down back onto fire road,
a short dash then left turn up up a grass fire road, this leads into a fast decent for what seems like miles fast open fire road leading into nice fast single track over a few roots and then drop down onto the fire road,
short down hill burst into nice decent to pick up a right turn onto a lovely bit of following wide track cut into the side of the hill this drops down into the finish. This is one wicked course.
A course from the old days when it was more than just flat race round a field with a hill in it. Don't miss your chance to ride this course.

Pictures from the event will be here early next week.

Oh and Dave Perace said there will be bonfire on Saturday Night.
