Winter Down Hill Race

Chris Roberts welcomes you to the Nantmwar Quarry Down Hill race on Sunday 24th November 2002
Previously playing successful host to both National and Regional events

The Venue

The venue is situated approximately only an hour or so drive on good roads from either Merseyside or the West Midlands, we are in the Welsh hills just outside Oswestry

The course weaves it way through the side of the quarry making it a testing course because of the technical rocky sections, drop offs, off camber tracks.


Practice & Race info

Nantmwar Quarry is open all year round. There is a daily fee for riding there please check the web site for details or call Nantmwar on telephone number 01691 659358.
The Nantmwar will be open as normal on Saturday, the course will be taped on Saturday afternoon for you to ride.

Sunday 24th November
The Downhill will consist of a practice session of approximately 2 hours. The course will then be closed for one half hour for any necessary repair work. Racing will start at 11.00 am, with Riders being dispatched at 30 second intervals.
Approximate Race category start times will be posted after registration closes at 10.30 am.
There will be two timed runs, with the best-recorded time to count. There will be one half-hour break, before the second run.
(NOTE* Race Format and all times are subject to alteration at the Organisers / Commissaire's discretion.)

NOTE** DOWNHILL EVENT:
Helmets and Bike Bar End Plugs are compulsory. Also In line with BC guidelines, it is strongly recommended that competitors should wear Full Face Helmets and Full Body Armour.
Due to the lay out of the venue we are not able to provide uplift, but this has been reflected the entry fee of only being £15

WILL ALSO BE OPEN ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON ,
FROM 3.30PM TO 5.00PM AND THEN SUNDAY FROM 8.30AM
PLEASE REMENBER YOUR £2 DISPOSIT FOR YOUR RACE NUMBER.

Please go to the registration marquee..
At registration you will be given your race number, ties and any final instructions necessary.
Please return your number board at the end of the day.
Registration for the Downhill Race will close at 10.00 am on Sunday 24th November 2002

Directions :-
Leave the Oswestry By-pass (A5/A438) at the Little Chef (also Travel Lodge & TIC) roundabout, onto the A483 towards Welshpool.
4 miles - turn Right at White Lion pub, Llynclys, onto A495.
3 miles - turn Right opposite a quarry entrance.
Climb hill to T Junction. Turn Left.
Half a mile - Entrance on Right.

CAR PARKING:
Please note the main car park will close on Sunday at 8.30am.
after this time you will have to park in the overflow car park which has limited spaces.
Park and unload in the middle of the quarry.
*** Plenty of room for parking, turning long vehicles, and camping ***
Please park with consideration for other competitors, and please follow the Marshals' instructions at all times.

NO MOTORBIKES:
We can not allow any motor bikes of any size be ridden/used etc in Nantmwar Quarry this includes the paddock, parking area, trade area, on or near the down hill or 4X course.

Trade stands on site & Team Pit area available upon request.



Camping is available on site.
Please pay on the day, the cost will be £4 payable to Nantmwar quarry..

Bike Wash -
Next to the car park is a bike wash, so after each run you can get your bike all cleaned up ready for the next run.
